Meet the Team - Andy

We’re delighted to introduce Andy, one of our experienced Yard Operatives. Since joining Peacock Turfscape 14 months ago, Andy has become an integral part of the team, helping customers, keeping the yard running smoothly, and ensuring stock is always prepared and ready to go. Friendly, hardworking, and always up for a laugh, Andy is a familiar face around the yard and someone customers enjoy dealing with.

Before joining Peacock Turfscape, Andy spent 10 years working for Albar. Having known Jock and Fraser through previous roles, the opportunity to join the team felt like a natural next step and one he’s thoroughly enjoyed ever since.

Born in Perth, Andy has a fascinating and varied background. He holds a master’s degree in Geospatial Mapping Sciences and has worked as an engineer on both railways and oil rigs. Despite his impressive engineering career, Andy discovered that he preferred the hands-on, outdoor nature of landscaping and has never looked back.

As a Yard Operative, Andy’s responsibilities include:

• Serving Customers: Providing helpful advice and assistance to customers visiting the yard.
• Production and Assembly: Preparing and assembling stock to maintain high standards and availability.
• Loading and Unloading: Safely handling deliveries and ensuring vehicles are loaded efficiently.

When asked what he enjoys most about working at Peacock Turfscape, Andy’s answer was simple: the team. He particularly enjoys the strong camaraderie among colleagues and admits that the days when colleagues brings in homemade baking are always a bonus especially as he has a bit of a sweet tooth!

Andy draws motivation from the people he works alongside every day, particularly his friendship with fellow team member Mikey. The pair work closely together, and Andy believes their friendship helps them work efficiently and create a positive atmosphere in the yard.

One of the highlights of Andy’s time with the company has been the staff nights out. According to Andy, they’re always a great laugh and a fantastic opportunity for the team to unwind and spend time together outside of work.

Away from the yard, Andy is a passionate sports fan. Having played rugby for many years, he still enjoys following the sport and is a dedicated supporter of Celtic. When he’s not cheering on his team, you’ll often find him enjoying a trip to the pub with friends.

Fun Fact: Andy has broken more than 60 bones throughout his lifetime! It’s certainly an impressive statistic and proof that he’s no stranger to bouncing back from a challenge.

Whether he’s helping customers, loading vehicles, or sharing a laugh with colleagues, Andy’s experience, positive attitude, and team spirit make him a valued member of the Peacock Turfscape family.
