Meet the Team - Mikey
Posted by Lauren Aitken on 2nd Feb 2026
We are delighted to introduce you to Mikey, one of our dedicated Yard Operatives. If you’ve been to our yard recently, you’ve almost certainly spotted him in action. Always cheery and buzzing with energy, Mikey has become a familiar, friendly face for our customers since joining the team in July 2024. Whether he's navigating the yard or helping you load up your vehicle, his positivity is hard to miss!
Mikey’s path to the yard was a family affair, his sister was already part of the team and knowing he was looking for a role that suited his active lifestyle, she let him know a position had opened. Luckily, it turned out to be the perfect fit!
Before joining us, Mikey spent time as a bottling plant operative at a whisky distillery and worked in wholesaler distribution, where he mastered the art of goods-in and stock replenishment. This experience prepared him perfectly for the fast-paced environment of our Paisley yard.
As a Yard Operative, Mikey’s days are anything but quiet. His primary responsibilities include:
- Serving Customers: Being the friendly face that helps you get exactly what you need.
- Production and Assembly: Keeping our extensive stock ready for the next project.
- Loading and Unloading: Managing the heavy lifting that keeps our delivery vehicles moving.
Mikey thrives on physical labor and loves being outdoors—even in the unpredictable Scottish weather! He is motivated by a genuine “desire to give every customer the best experience possible”. A highlight of his time here so far has been successfully earning his telehandler license, adding yet another valuable skill to his toolkit.
When he’s not busy loading turf or helping customers, Mikey is likely spending time with his dog, Messi (proudly named after the player he considers the best of all time!). He’s also a fan of playing his x-box, travelling to new places to explore whenever he can, and family game night’s (Fun Fact: Mikey comes from a busy household, he is the second youngest of 11 siblings!).
What’s next for Mikey? He’s currently working hard towards getting his driving license, and we’re all rooting for him!
Whether you’re visiting us for a bulk bag of soil or just some landscaping advice, Mikey is always on hand to help with a smile and a "can-do" attitude.
