At Peacock Turfscape, we're lucky to have a team that goes the extra mile—quite literally. Today, we want to introduce you to Andy, one of our delivery drivers. For the past three years, Andy has been an essential part of our operation, making sure that deliveries meet the highest standards of service and customer satisfaction.

Andy initially joined us after hearing about the role from an agency driver friend. With the base conveniently close to home, he was drawn to the opportunity. While offered a role that involved driving all types of vehicles, Andy chose to specialise in operating the HIAB crane truck. It's where his expertise shines.

With almost 30 years of driving experience under his belt, Andy’s career began when his previous employer put him through his HGV test. He remained loyal to that company for 27 years and only left as the company had to relocate.

What does Andy love most about working here? It's the variety and the challenges that come with the job. No two days are the same, and while not everything goes smoothly, he thrives on meeting customer expectations. Whether it's navigating tough delivery routes or working with tight schedules, Andy tackles each task head on.

When asked what drives him, Andy says it's all about keeping customers happy. He also enjoys lending a hand to colleagues, especially new team members who might need some guidance or a bit of encouragement.

A memorable moment in his career here was a particularly challenging delivery to Inveraray. It was a tough job, but the customers were so appreciative that they sent sweet treats as a thank you! We have to mention another experience that still makes Andy chuckle. It is when a customer asked him to place some bulk bags of aggregates in their back garden. It sounded simple until Andy realised it was a mid-terraced house. When he called to clarify, the customer casually mentioned that other suppliers had lifted the bags over the house before. While Andy always tries to accommodate requests, this one was definitely a step too far!

Outside of work, Andy is passionate about golf and football. He used to play football and even manage local teams to give back to a sport he's loved since childhood, but nowadays, golf is more his speed. He also treasures time with his partner, family, and especially his young grandson, who keeps him on his toes.

And finally, one fun fact about Andy that many might not know—he’s a self-confessed grump, but you should know that he said that with a big smile on his face!
